Xerox Brings 600 jobs to NC
Xerox Corp. will open a North Carolina technology center employing about 600 people.
A North Carolina committee approved state and local incentives that could be worth more than $13 million to choose a site in the Raleigh suburb of Cary.
State business recruiters said Xerox also considered its headquarters in Norwalk, Connecticut, and facilities in the Rochester, New York, area. (Xerox still has about 3,000 employees in Webster)
According to the Triangle Business Journal, Xerox received incentive offers from both New York and Connecticut, but picked Cary.
A spokesperson for Xerox notes that Webster is already a ‘Center of Excellence.’ Caroline Gransee-Linsey released this statement from the company:
“The new center of excellence in the Raleigh area joins three others in North America including Webster, Palo Alto and Toronto as part of our focus on building a digital-first Xerox for the future. We are increasing manufacturing work on hardware and toner in Webster, as well as working with state and local officials to identify ways to invest and revitalize the overall campus there.”
Xerox plans to pay an average of $113,000 a year at its fourth North American tech center as it moves some executives to North Carolina and hires IT specialists locally.
