Ninestar to Build Second Printer and Consumables Manufacturing Base

According to Ninestar, it has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Hefei government to build a printer and consumables manufacturing base, as well as Ninestar regional headquarters and R&D center in Hefei, the capital and largest city of Anhui province in eastern China.

It is said that the investment is part of Ninestar’ strategy to target a 25% market ratio in the global laser printer market in 5 years. Ninestar wholly-owned subsidiary Pantum will undertake the investment project.

According to the agreement, Ninestar will invest RMB 5 billion (US$785.4 million) within 10 years to build a manufacturing base capable of manufacturing two million printer units and consumables per year as well as a high-end laser printer R&D center.

“The purpose of this investment is to make the layout for Ninestar’s production capacity increase in advance, preparing for the ever-increasing production of its printer business. In addition, building a second printer manufacturing base in central China will help enhance supply chain efficiency and reduce logistic costs, which will, in return, reinforce the competitiveness of Ninestar printer business,” said the spokesman of Ninestar.

According to Ninestar, the whole project will cover 500 acres, 300 acres of which are for phase 1 construction. Dongfei county government will start plant construction within three months after the project land was auctioned off. The county government will finish plant construction within 18 months. Pantum will complete the project and start production within 6 months after the plant is delivered. The project is expected to reach the production target within 36 months after the plant is delivered.

In July, Ninestar completed the first-phase construction of the company’s new printer manufacturing base in Gaolan Port Economic Zone in Zhuhai.

The construction of Ninestar’ Zhuhai printer manufacturing base is said to be completed in two phases, occupying 600,000 square meters and 300,000 square meters respectively.

In 2018, Ninestar signed an agreement with the administrative committee of Gaolan port economic zone to start the project of high-tech equipment and intelligent manufacturing of laser printers in Zhuhai.
