Brother Reports Significant Profit Growth in Q1, 2022
According to Brother, profit increased 149.5% year-over-year to JPY61.52 billion (US$473.18 million) in the first quarter of 2022 (Q1, 2022) ended March 31. Profit for the period attributable to owners of the parent company turned out to be JPY61.03 billion (US$469.49), up 148.9% year-over-year.
Other highlights from Q1 include:
- Profit before income taxes increased 101.3% year-over-year to 43 billion (US$664.89 million),
- Operating profit increased 100.1% year-over-year to 50 billion (US$657.78 million),
- Revenue turned out to be JPY 710.94 billion, up 12.5% year-over-year to 81 billion (US$4.86 billion),
- Business profit increased 8.3% year-over-year to 55 billion (US$650.52 million),
- Comprehensive income for the period increased 40.7% year-over-year to 73 billion (US$751.93 million)
Brother also predicted that revenue in the fiscal year ending March 31, 2023 will increase 9.0% year-over-year to JPY775.00 billion (US$5.96 billion).
In Q1, the printing & solutions segment revenue was JPY424.25 billion (US$3.26 billion), while operating profit was JPY59.42 billion (US$457.26 million).
