We can all picture an elderly scribe, sitting in a cold, remote castle somewhere during the Middle Ages, bent over a rustic table, copying manuscripts, documents, and texts by hand.

They were skilled individuals who were primarily responsible for meticulously copying existing manuscripts. This could include religious texts, legal documents, literature, or scientific works. Scribes used quills or reed pens and ink to reproduce each word and illustration painstakingly.

These ancient “copiers” would eventually succumb to the merciless embrace of eternal slumber.  However, despite the advent of modern copiers, these mechanical beings can also grow ‘old’ and untimely ‘die’.

We may not be able to resurrect or replace our deceased mates, but there is something we can do with our modern devices before they meet their imminent demise.
