China Includes Australia and New Zealand in Visa-free Countries

In separate visits to New Zealand and Australia, Chinese Premier Li Qiang announced that China would include both countries in its unilateral visa-free country list.

As this visa-free country list continues to expand, travelers from more countries will find it easier to visit China. This policy will particularly benefit buyers and suppliers of imaging and printing supplies, facilitating their attendance at the RemaxWorld Expo 2024.

On June 13, Premier Li met with New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon in Wellington. During their discussions, Premier Li announced China’s decision to include New Zealand in its visa-free country list, aimed at promoting exchanges and visits from New Zealand citizens.

Subsequently, on June 17, Premier Li participated in the annual leaders’ meeting in Canberra, Australia, where he engaged in discussions on Sino-Australian relations with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. Both leaders acknowledged the positive impact of citizen exchanges on their bilateral relationship and expressed a commitment to enhancing communication. As part of these efforts, they agreed to facilitate reciprocal access to multi-entry visas for business, tourism, and family visits, with a validity of up to three to five years. Premier Li also announced a similar decision to grant visa-free entry to Australian citizens.

The new visa-free policy will permit citizens of Australia and New Zealand to enter China and stay for up to 15 days, akin to the provisions for other countries on China’s visa-waiver list. Further details regarding the implementation of this policy are yet to be disclosed.
