ARMOR to 3D Print 1000 Masks a Day for Frontline Workers
According to French-based Le Figaro, the Nantes University Hospital has received protective visors for its caregivers from a leading European cartridge remanufacturer.
ARMOR, claims to be a “world leader in thermal transfer ribbon, the European leader in the production of inkjet cartridges in Europe and No. 1 in the sale of remanufactured laser cartridges in France.”
According to Le Figaro, The University of Nantes, through its enhancement subsidiary Capacités SAS, and the company ARMOR, will 3D print the face visors to combat the spread of the coronavirus. The protective visors that protect the wearers are made from headbands produced by ARMOR. The assembly is then carried out by the engineers of the Capacity SAS subsidiary, using 3D printing technologies. “Developed in close collaboration with the Nantes University Hospital and biomedical engineers, the first examples were tested and validated by the nursing staff,” a spokesperson wrote in a joint press release from the University of Nantes and ARMOR.
The goal is to manufacture 1,000 products a day by next week and could be used by others on the frontline war against the coronavirus including firefighters and police. “It is a regional partnership which is being built to support health personnel as well as all the players who are exposed to the virus and who make our daily lives possible. All of the partners are making their expertise available to the fight against COVID-19, ”said Olivier Laboux, president of the University of Nantes.
