Balkans.com Sees Decline in Romania’s Printer Sector for 2Q2013
According to Balkans.com Business News (BBN), Romania’s Technical Consumer Goods (TCG) market posted a slight increase of 4.7% in the second quarter of 2013 (2Q2013), compared to the same quarter of 2012. The first half of 2013 brought about an increase of 4.3% over the first 6 months of 2012. The total value of TCG amounted to €699 million.
BBN’s data showed the printers and multifunctional device (MFD) sector witnessed a decline of 8.8% in 2Q2013 when compared to the same period last year, the total value being €6 million. Multifunctional laser devices (MLDs) were stagnant, providing some balance to the downward trend of the sector. The total value of inkjet products continued to shrink.
Further, BBN pointed out that telecommunications emerged as the largest TCG sector with a total value of €99 million. Also, it was the one that has seen the most important increase in value, namely, 17% growth compared to 2Q2012.
Remarkable growth also came from the Major Domestic Appliances sector, a 4.9% year-on-year increase with a total value of €73 million. It was the first quarter of increase for this sector since 2011. The Photo market showed a double-digit decrease of 25.5%.
