Buyers and Suppliers Meet for the First Time in Kenya
130 buyers and distributors of printers, copiers and imaging supplies from 85 companies have visited 26 exhibitors at the Sarit Expo Centre in Nairobi, Kenya, for an intense one-day VIP experience.
The RTMworld VIP Expo is the first-ever professional event held in the eastern African city. It brought the industry together on April 26, with many buyers meeting each other for the first time. Kenya is the 28th most populous country in the world and 7th most populous in Africa.
The event business model differs from traditional expos in that only suppliers and buyers, who can export and import products, are eligible to attend. The fully catered event ran for seven hours, but many buyers wanted to stay longer to complete their first meetings with suppliers from China, India and Poland.
A similar one-day event was held three days earlier on April 22 in the western African city of Lagos in Nigeria. A third one-day event will be held in Dubai on April 30.
Many visitors thanked the organizers for bringing such a mix of suppliers to Africa for the first time. Exhibitors were obviously delighted to find new customers. One commented to the Comexposium Recycling Times (C-RT) organiser staff, “I have found more serious new buyers in just five hours than I do at five-day events elsewhere in the world.”
The African continent is home to 1.4 billion people, and as an emerging market, there is a growing demand for printers, copiers, and supplies. This is unlike the mature markets of North America and Western Europe, where the demand for similar supplies has flattened and is in decline.
The series of one-day RTMworld VIP events in April and June will raise awareness of C-RT’s RemaxWorld Expo in Zhuhai, China, in October.
