Canon Inc. also announced the filing of a Report Infringement Form with Amazon Australia based on the alleged infringement of claim 160 of Canon’s Australian Patent Number AU2014208277 regarding the cartridge model CF226A offered by NK STORE AU under the ASIN (Amazon Standard Identification Number) B0788JC694. After receipt of the Report Infringement Form, Amazon took down the respective products. These products are compatible with the OEM HP cartridge model and provide a non-OEM coupling member, a non-OEM drum as well as a non-OEM housing.
Canon is the most diligent of printer OEMs to scrutinise the online listings of aftermarket printer cartridges, particularly on Amazon.
The iconic imaging leader has yet again, used the infringement reporting service offered by Amazon to see thousands of listings removed in Australia, USA, Canada, Germany, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom and France.
The “Amazon Reporting Tool” is a service offered by Amazon and does not encompass any official finding of validity or infringement of a patent. Canon says it appreciates the support of Amazon in protecting its intellectual property.
