Canon Filed Patent Lawsuit against KMP and wta
Canon has filed two patent infringement complaints in Germany with the District Court of Düsseldorf. The company alleges “wta Carsten Weser GmbH” and “KMP PrintTechnik AG” have infringed the German portion of one of Canon’s European patents.
According to Canon, the patent (2,087,407) relates to a drum unit and a process cartridge by, inter alia (among other things), the manufacturing, offer and sale of certain toner cartridges for use in various models of Canon and Hewlett-Packard German laser beam printers. Canon is now seeking injunctive relief and damages.
As revealed by Recycler, wta has responded by saying “We have not yet received the complaint from Canon, but we will immediately open a dialogue with Canon to fully understand the nature of their complaint. wta Carsten Weser GmbH fully respects the intellectual property of others and looks forward to working with Canon to resolve this. We have been committed to German innovation and remanufacturing for 15 years, and we fully intend to address this issue quickly and diligently, and will endeavor to avoid disruptions for our customers. Our customers can expect the same level of quality, commitment and support to our mutual success as we work through this. Please support us with your continued business and partnership.”
