Canon Made More Removal Request to Amazon AgainCanon continues filing infringement report with Amazon, seeking certain toner cartridges removed from Amazon listings.

In Canada

Canon’s infringement report alleged that certain model CE320A, CE321A, CE322A and CE323A toner cartridges sold by Ink Toner 4 You via Amazon.ca infringed Canon’s Canadian Patent no. 2,635,791. Canon requested the removal of the corresponding listing for these products, having Amazon Standard Identification Number B009E9DAHI.

At the time of this announcement, the above identified listing was no longer available on Amazon.ca.

In U.S.

Canon’s infringement report alleged that certain model CE410A, CE411A, CE412A and CE413X toner cartridges sold by MORECOLORFUL via Amazon.com infringed Canon’s U.S. Patent No. 8,588,646. Canon requested that Amazon remove MORECOLORFUL’s listing for those products, namely, MORECOLORFUL’s listings with Amazon Standard Identification Number (“ASIN”) B07TYHLZXC.

At the time of this announcement, the above-identified MORECOLORFUL listings were no longer available on Amazon.com.

In Germany

Canon Inc. today announced the filing of Report Infringement Forms with Amazon.de based on the alleged use of claims 1 and 2 of the German portion of Canon’s European Patent EP 1 977 289 (“EP ‘289”) regarding the cartridge models CE410A, CE411A, CE412A and CE413A offered by TT Recycling GmBH under the ASIN (Amazon Standard Identification Number) B009JBHPAO. Afterwards, Amazon took down the respective products. These products are compatible with the above OEM HP cartridge models and provide inter alia a non-OEM housing and a non-OEM force receiving device according to claim 1 of EP ‘289. Furthermore, they comprise an elastic portion according to claim 2 of EP ‘289.

 

Canon is the most diligent of printer OEMs to scrutinise the online listings of aftermarket printer cartridges, particularly on Amazon.

The iconic imaging leader has yet again, used the infringement reporting service offered by Amazon to see thousands of listings removed in Australia, USA, Canada, Germany, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom and France.

The “Amazon Reporting Tool” is a service offered by Amazon and does not encompass any official finding of validity or infringement of a patent. Canon says it appreciates the support of Amazon in protecting its intellectual property.
