Canon Releases New Flagship imagePROGRAF Pro-1100
Canon Europe has announced the release of the imagePROGRAF PRO-1100, a new A2 model from its desktop inkjet professional printer range. This printer is aimed at professional photographers and photography enthusiasts, with a focus on delivering high-quality photo prints and durability.
Enhanced Colour Gamut
The imagePROGRAF PRO-1100 features the newly-developed pigment ink LUCIA PRO II, which provides a wider spectrum of colors compared to the existing imagePROGRAF PRO-1000 model. This allows the printer to produce prints with enhanced color depth and detail, capturing subtle nuances in photography.
Made to Last
The printer’s ink technology is designed to offer strong light fastness and scratch resistance, helping to preserve printed works for extended periods, with light resistance up to 200 years. The 12-ink pigment system provides a wider color gamut, which results in smooth color gradation and deeper blacks and blues, making it suitable for various types of photography, including landscapes and scenes with challenging shadows.
Deeper Blacks
For users who prefer matte finishes on art papers, the printer includes a matte black ink to enhance black density, achieving richer blacks, which is beneficial for black and white photography. The imagePROGRAF PRO-1100 also supports glossy and semi-glossy papers, using the Chroma Optimiser to maintain uniform glossiness. Its scratch resistance on these types of prints helps ensure they can be handled without damage during framing, packaging, and display.
Versatile and Reliable
The imagePROGRAF PRO-1100 shares the same print head, inks, and software as Canon’s larger models, providing consistency across different print sizes from 17 inches to 60 inches wide. This makes it a practical option for photographers who need a smaller setup for proofing but also want the capability to scale up to larger formats.
The new model will be available from September 2024. Accredited photographers attending the Visa pour l’Image event in Perpignan, France, will have the opportunity to print one image from their portfolio using this printer.
