Canon USA to Open New Customer Support Center
Canon announces that Canon Information Technology Services, its wholly-owned subsidiary, will open a customer support center located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The company notes that the center will offer “additional customer service support and technical capabilities for Canon customers.”
According to Canon, the new center, covering 33,682 square feet, “will support small office and consumer imaging products, including digital cameras, camcorders, printers, and copiers.” Also, the center will offer service to the company’s growing professional printing, cinema, and eCommerce customers. In addition to creating at least 150 call center positions in three years, Canon says it plans to start hiring in early 2014 and the center is expected to commence operations in April 2014.
Yuichi Ishizuka, Executive Vice President and General Manager for Imaging Technologies & Communications Group at Canon USA, comments, “Expanding our support centers illustrates our continuing commitment to providing 100 percent U.S.-based customer service. We chose Albuquerque specifically because the area has a reduced exposure to weather-related disruptions, the ability to service multiple time zones, and an educated workforce, a large percentage of which has bilingual capabilities, all of which will help us serve our customers better.”
As was announced by Canon, positive feedback has come from people in this city, including Governor Susana Martinez, Mayor Richard J. Berry, Commission Vice-Chair Debbie O’Malley and Albuquerque Economic Development’s Chairman Steve Maestas. They believe Canon’s new center is helpful for the city and it will cause more job opportunities to bloom.
