He has donated one million Indian rupees to the fund set up by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to fight the coronavirus outbreak in India. Rajpal made the announcement on Twitter.

The gift is equivalent to three full-time salaries for a year — a significant gift by any means.  According to RT ImagingWorld’s regional partner Dhruv Mahajan, “This is a leadership gift made by Mr Rajpal. His company is genuinely selling about 100,000 cartridges per month under the ProDot and ProLite brands. Customers and industry people alike will be challenged to support this worthy cause of the Prime Minister as a result.”

Rajpal made the announcement from his Twitter account on April 6.

Rajpal was a B. Sc (Hons) Maths graduate from Delhi University in 1985 and without having any technical background, learned how to program and create software for payroll management and production management. Mahajan added, “His brands were the pioneers and are now the biggest movers in India in terms of IT Accessories through to printer cartridges and dot matrix ribbons in the country.” The corporate headquarters is located in New Delhi and has 15 distribution depots, more than 1,000 direct distributors and about 10,000 retailers across India.

The Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM CARES Fund) was created on 28 March 2020 following the COVID-19 pandemic in India. The fund will be used for combating, containment and relief efforts against the coronavirus outbreak and similar pandemic like situations in the future. The Prime Minister is the chairman of the trust and its members include the defence, home and finance ministers.

Political leaders, corporates, defence personnel, employees of PSUs such as Railways and Bollywood personalities were among a cross-section of organisations and people who have announced their contribution to the fund.
