Chongqing Printer Exports Surged
According to the Chongqing Morning Post, digital inkjet and laser printers exported from Chongqing in the months extending from January through July of 2013 reached 9.406 million units, ranking second in the province’s total commodities exported.
The total revenue of all commodities exported from Chongqing in this period was US$ 25.23 billion, with a growth of 13.4% over the same period in 2012, the statement said. Revenue gained from exported printers alone was US$ 1.17 billion. This shows that printer production in Chongqing has expanded to a very large scale for the first time.
It was also reported that digital printers were one of the Top 10 industrial investment projects in Chongqing in 2012. The printing and imaging base is now under faster construction. Related equipment items are being installed and put into use successfully. Thus, printers made in Chongqing are growing dramatically.
China provides the largest number of printers in the world. The number of printers shipped from China per year reached 70 million units, 40 million of which are inkjet printers. Half of these printers were made in Chongqing.
