CONTEXT: Printer Unit Shipments up 9% for EMEA in 1Q2014
Unit shipments of printer hardware posts 9% year-on-year (YOY) growth across EMEA in the first quarter of 2014 (1Q2014).
The leading European IT market research company CONTEXT says Western Europe unit shipments also went up by 10% YOY. The UK and Spain printer hardware shipments grew by 31% and 28% respectively. CONTEXT finds laser and inkjet multi-format printers (MFPs) contributed to the UK growth. Also, Spain witnessed double-digit growth in all categories.
Printer hardware shipments in Middle East and Africa registered a strongest growth of 20%, which was driven by the sale of laser and inkjet MFP shipments in UAE and Saudi Arabia. Turkey saw an increase of 8% in this period.
On the other hand, however, unit shipments to Central and Eastern Europe decreased by 4% YOY in 1Q2014.
Zivile Brazdziunaite, Imaging Market Analyst at CONTEXT, stated, “The majority of Western European countries registered positive YOY unit shipments growth in 1Q2014, driven mostly by multifunction laser and inkjet technology printers.”
