Diamond’s Sparkling Apprentice Takes Top Award
Mansour Abubaker, apprentice production technician with global ink specialists, Diamond Dispersions, has won the Apprentice of the Year Award at Barnsley College.
Mansour, who hails from Sudan, has worked for Diamond since arriving in the UK seven years ago. For the last two years, he has studied Manufacturing at the college and completed NVQs in both English and Maths.
Explains Mansour: “I love the academic learning and I thoroughly enjoy the practical parts of my job. I get the chance to apply the skills I’m taught in the classroom in my role at Diamond – I’ve learnt so much over the last few years and would recommend an apprenticeship to anyone wanting to build a career in this industry.
“The team at Diamond has supported me every step of the way and my confidence continues to grow every day. I’m one of those lucky people who enjoys coming to work every day!”
Commenting on Mansour’s win, Peter Callahan, director at Diamond Dispersions, said: “I cannot explain how proud we are of Mansour’s achievements.
