DRC Commissioned to Find Buyer for Kirkby, UK Toner Plant
Diamond Research Corporation (DRC) of Ojai, California has been commissioned to find a Buyer for the toner manufacturing plant, and/or equipment at that facility, located in the city of Kirkby, Merseyside, England.
Designed by Kodak scientists and engineers, the Kirkby plant was built in 1995 and operated until 2008. It is capable of producing both monochrome and color toners with a capacity of more than 500 Kg per hour. The manufacturing process uses conventional melt-mixing in a compounding extruder followed by cooling, granulating, jet pulverizing and classification.
The Kodak Toner Plant began operations in 1995. Its Initial cost was about $16 mil-lion (13 million pounds Sterling). It consists of 59,000 square feet of floor space, including 13,000 ft2 of office and 20,000 ft2 of warehouse area.
Operating capacity is based upon a Werner Pfleiderer 70 ZSK twin screw, com-pounding extruder and three Hosokawa Micron-designed pulverizer/classifier systems.
Kirkby is located 10 kilometers (~6 miles) northeast of the Port of Liverpool. With over half a million inhabitants, Liverpool is the 9th most populous city in England and one of the largest ports in the United Kingdom.
