Epson Declares War on Toner with Free Ink in New No-Cartridge, Bulk Ink Printers

Epson continues to wage war on laser printers which use toners with its latest bulk ink printer campaign in the USA.

They have roped in Shaquille Rashaun “Shaq” O’Neal (pictured) who is considered to be one of the greatest players in National Basketball Association history.

On top of that, Epson is also offering consumers “free” ink for up to two years on its recently launched five new EcoTank Pro printers. These printers don’t need a printer cartridge. They run on a bulk ink tank continuously supplying ink as needed. Customers who purchase and register an EcoTank Pro Series printer are eligible to receive reimbursement for replacement ink bottles.

The new printers are the EcoTank Pro ET-5800, ET-5850, ET-5880, ET-16600 and ET-16650. Shoppers need to purchase the printer between March 26, 2020, and March 31, 2021, and register the product within 30 days and purchase ink within two years to be eligible to claim the reimbursement.

Epson America, Inc. claims these high-speed, heavy-duty models are designed to provide worry-free, cost-effective printing to small businesses, home offices and workgroups. It also means that users do not have to go as frequently to a store to get fresh supplies of ink.

The new EcoTank Pro Series offers business savings of up to 80 percent with low-cost replacement ink bottles compared with standard-capacity color laser toner cartridges. Epson also claims its “PrecisionCore Heat-Free Technology” can deliver fast, consistent, heavy-duty performance and print-shop-quality output.

“Supertank printer adoption is growing rapidly worldwide; in 2019, nearly one out of every three inkjet printers shipped was a Supertank. This new fleet of Pro performers will accelerate that growth,” said Nils Madden (pictured), director, Consumer Marketing, Epson America. “PrecisionCore Heat-Free Technology is optimal for office printing and we are looking to further disrupt the industry, demonstrating that cartridge-free EcoTank Pro Series printers are cost-effective and offer fast, reliable professional-quality color prints. While these robust machines are designed for heavy-duty performance, the EcoTank Pro printers are also a great solution for high-volume production now being done at home.”

According to Madden, “The wireless all-in-one printers offer fast cartridge-free printing with easy-to-fill supersized ink tanks producing an ultra-low cost per page at about 2 cents per color ISO page compared to 14 cents with standard-sized color laser toner cartridges.” Epson is targetting businesses looking for low-cost replacement ink options.
