Epson Switches to Corporate Printing System Market
In order to create a new revenue stream and offset flagging sales in its consumer printer business, Epson (Thailand) is changing its strategy to tackle the corporate printing system market.
According to Bankokpost, Yunyong Muneemongkoltorn, general manager of Epson (Thailand), revealed that from 2014-16, the overall shipment of printers for corporate and education markets in Thailand will register a compound annual growth rate of 10-15% while the growth in the consumer printer sector remains flat.
Mr. Yunyong opines the total printer sales in Thailand will reach 1.45 million units this year, increasing to 1.79 million by 2016. Also, he said the local printer market declined at the start of 2013 with sales of 1.52 million units, declining from 1.99 million in 2012.
He revealed early next year, Epson will roll out inkjet printers which can print on A3 paper to compete with multi-function printers in the corporate market. He noted the projector is another growth sector which will generate 18% of the total revenue this fiscal year ending March 2015. In addition, the corporate sector will contribute to 60% of the total revenue in Thailand, a 7% growth from this year.
