Epson to Drive Printing Innovation with PrecisionCore Technology
At a press conference at LabeExpo, a Trade show for the label industry held every two years in Brussels, Belgium, Epson introduced a new inkjet printing technology aiming to transform the printing business. The company noted PrecisionCore Chip—which provides speeds required for industrial and commercial printing—will be extended into Epson’s office printing range as well.
Minoru Usui, President of Epson Global, said the new print chip contains Epson’s technologies in piezo material and high-precision MEMS (micro-electromechanical systems) and “enables Epson to scale the technology from single-pass industrial presses to workgroup and desktop printers.”
Epson also claimed the new chip can be expected as the only volume-produced printing technology covering a wide range of inks and marking materials. Also, the company explained that the new technology extends the thin-film piezo print technology for Epson’s commercial large-format printers. Owing to MEMS chip production, Epson believes its integrated production cycle can help “address a full range of digital printing opportunities with the scale, quality and cost effectiveness.”
