Gartner: Printer Shipments Grow in 3Q2013 in India
Gartner, Inc. (Stamford, Connecticut) says printer shipments to India, including serial inkjet, page printers, copiers and MFPs, reached 861,212 units in 3Q2013, up 13.2% year-over-year (YOY). This growth included an increase of 12% and 28% YOY in the monochrome and color markets, respectively.
HP continued leading the market, with a 51.5% market share. Canon took 21%, ranking second, followed by Epson, Samsung and Ricoh, with shares of 9%, 7% and 6%, respectively.
The page printer market rose 7.6% YOY. HP also ranked top in this segment, with a 47% market share. Canon and Ricoh captured 24% and 16% market share, respectively.
Segment A4 MFP saw a hike of 20% YOY with HP holding its position in first place with a 56.7% market share. Samsung and Canon followed, with market shares of 19% and 12.8%, respectively.
Segment A3 MFP rose by 2% YOY with Canon in first place, accounting for 23.1% market share, followed by Ricoh at 19.4% share. Konica Minolta was in the No. 3 position, with a 19% market share.
“Indian organizations are still largely paper driven,” observed Zalak Shah, a Research Analyst at Gartner, “but there is increasing importance of digitization and the need to access information anytime, anywhere. This represents an opportunity for print providers to expand their services into optimizing the document workflows that support business processes.”
