Global Paper Dumping Cases Running Rampant
Publications serving the pulp and paper industry are reporting a plague of dumping cases worldwide. According to IndustryEdge, dumping is rampant with only a small number of court actions being brought under Australian law.
“The reported cases have been relatively large in impact, given the size of the market and the small number of players in the sector,” wrote IndustryEdge. “As the Australian industry considers the implications of the copy paper dumping case, the evidence shows other countries are much more active in country to country trade battles.”
In October, Print21 reported that a flow of Chinese copy paper into the Australian market is being investigated by the Anti-Dumping Commission since Australian Paper claims “the cut-sheet imports are being sold at 20% below the market price”.
