The aftermarket printer cartridge industry—particularly in North America—has been under attack, and experienced huge changes.

Companies, publications and events, iconic with the growth of the industry over three decades have gone. Mergers and acquisitions have seen the number of aftermarket businesses in North America reduced by up to 75%. World Expo was canceled, Recharger Magazine has closed, patent infringing clones have been dumped on the market, consumers are using more smart devices and printing differently, and many OEMs have rigorously pursued remanufacturers on various fronts.
