HP Seeks to Gain Market Share in India
Hewlett-Packard (HP) introduced its new Officejet Pro X Series, Officejet Pro 3610/3620, and White Series inkjet printers in India. The company said the new printers will broaden HP’s inkjet portfolio. And HP expects this collection will further strengthen its leading position in the Indian market and transform the office printing environment for businesses in Tamil Nadu.
According to Ms. Sumita Bhatia Vijh, Country Category Manager of Consumer Imaging and Printing Products at HP India, HP brings 270,000 to 300,000 printers in India every quarter and holds a 60% share of the printer market in this region. She said the printing sector was contributing 20% revenue out of HP’s total turnover of USD $120 billion around the world.
For the impact of the rupee depreciation, Ms. Vijh noticed that HP has already increased the price of its laser printers by 2 to 4 percent. Further, she claims the printer market is growing, including the segments of educational institutions, students and small and medium size business (SMBs).
