HP Sued for Infringement of Flexiworld Patents
HP, one of the biggest player in the printing industry, was accused of alleged infringement of several wireless technology patents owned by Flexiorld Technologies, Inc. a wireless communication technology company. The lawsuit has been filed to the U.S. District Court for Texas on July 19.
According to Flexiworld’s accusations, HP has been aware of its patent infringements issues as early as 2021, yet it continued its misconducts and selling products with patent disputes. A range of HP’s models are claimed to have used patented technologies from Flexiworld, including DesignJet, Envy, OfficeJet printers and other wireless laptops. Despite warning and claim charts received, HP has shown no trace of remedy, leading to Flexiworld’s eventual legal actions.
This is not the first time Flexiworld reported patent infringements of other companies. Several other printer suppliers have also been sued allegedly for infringing Flexiworld’s wireless technologies, the same accusations it claimed on HP. William Ho Chang and Christina Ying Liu, two key inventors, have contributed over 150 U.S. patents to the company. These patents are incorporated with devices that apply wireless technologies, including smartphones, laptops and printers. With a major coverage of these products, Xerox, Lexmark and Sony have also been sued by Flexiworld these years, mostly for the infringement of its wireless connectivity and streaming patents.
To date, HP has not responded to the allegations or taken any actions, while it can be estimated that Flexiworld may still continue the preservation of its intellectual properties, targeting companies in addition to HP.
