IDC Finds Epson Dominated Filipino InkJet, SIDM Markets In 2012
According to International Data Corporation (IDC), Epson dominated the Philippine inkjet printer (IJP) market in 2012 with a 34.4% value share. This figure posts an increase of 7.6% in market share, up from 26.8% in 2011. Growth was mainly attributed to sales of the new Epson L-Series printers—the first and only, genuine ink tank system printers in the country.
Donna V. Ferro, Head of Epson’s Marcom & Public Relations, explained, “We believe that our revolutionary Epson L-series, among our other innovative inkjet products, has paved the way in the increase of our value share leadership in this category. These figures attest that Filipino customers put a premium on the quality, reliability, and overall value for money that Epson offers.”
The IDC Report also pointed out that Epson has a 90.3% value share for the SIDM category among all players in the Philippines, remaining unrivaled. For several decades, Epson has been the undefeated leader in the dot matrix printer segment in the country.
With regard to the Visual Imaging or Projector Category, Future Source Consulting recently ascertained Epson’s status as the No.1 projector maker in the world for the 12th successive year.
Epson Philippines Corporation President/Country Manager Toshimitsu Tanaka commented, “We are excited to confirm our progress in the past years. With the growing numbers that we are enjoying, we are confident that we are on track in making the Epson brand Number 1 in the Philippines and the world. For the rest of 2013 and the years to come, we hope to continue offering more innovations that will please the Filipino customers, and make them want to continue a fruitful and productive relationship with us.”
