IDC Report Names Lead-to-Success Elements for MPS Market
Information Data Corporation (IDC) recently completed a report titled “IDC’s MarketScape” a worldwide managed print and document services (MPS) 2013 hardcopy vendor analysis. The IDC study identifies the “lead-to-success” elements for the MPS market and analyzes the status of 9 hardcopy vendors in that marketplace.
IDC’s MarketScape shows the combined, worldwide MPS market hit $27.9 billion in 2012, an 11.1% growth year-over-year (YOY) compared to $25.1 billion in 2011. The global MPS market increased from $10.8 billion to $11.8 billion with an 8.9% CAGR (Compound Annual Growth Rate) The BPS (Basic Print Service) market grew from $14.3 billion to $16.1 billion at a 12.8% CAGR.
IDC predicts the MPS market will continue to grow as companies realize these programs can help them save costs and enhance efficiency. And the market demand for cloud-based applications, mobile devices, plus the increasing socialization of business applications, are all rapidly changing.
IDC said their Vendor Analysis assessment evaluated the current positions and future business of the major players. Top performers—including Xerox, Ricoh, HP, and Lexmark—have led and continue to lead the market in terms of offerings and strategy.
Other major players—including Canon, Konica Minolta, Pitney Bowes, Toshiba and Kyocera—have also established offerings in the market and are successful in satisfying customers.
According to IDC, both BPS and MPS must include the following elements: Contract scope (refers to third-party management of a group or fleet of printers and/or MFPs); multiyear contract length; office environment; ink/toner and maintenance/repairs; printer/MFP hardware purchasing and leasing; consolidated fleet billing; fleet usage monitoring, detailed up-front assessment; fleet usage analysis/reporting; ongoing optimization; governance; assessment; design/optimization; device and supplies management; security; mobility and remote users; governance and change management; end-user report as well as reporting and analysis.
