IMI Europe announces Inkjet Winter Workshop programme for 2025

Conference and course provider IMI Europe Ltd announces programme of technical courses for its Inkjet Winter Workshop event, to be held in Valencia, Spain from 27-31 January 2025.

IMI Europe’s Inkjet Winter Workshop returns to Valencia for 2025, with six courses allowing developers to get an in-depth look at key technology areas. The line-up for 2025 includes the Inkjet Academy introductory course, along with courses on single pass inkjet system design, ink characterisation, ink drying & curing, drive electronics & waveforms and inkjet materials & applications. The Single Pass Inkjet System Design course returns after a four-year break, with new and updated content. The Inkjet Winter Workshop will be held at the Hotel Primus Valencia with full hospitality during and after each course.

Inkjet Academy

The theory of inkjet technology

Mon 27 – Tue 28 January 2025

Presented by Dr Mark Bale of DoDxAct and Dr Tim Phillips of Catenary Solutions/IMI Europe, the course introduces the basics of inkjet technology.

Single Pass Inkjet System Design

High speed inkjet system design & process development

Mon 27 – Tue 28 January 2025

Returning for the first time for many years, this course covers the challenges of single pass inkjet printer design and process development. This course is led by Rob Rogers, formerly of Epson, FUJIFILM Dimatix and EFI Jetrion.

 

Inkjet Ink Characterisation

Viscosity, dispersions, jetting and surfaces

Wed 29 – Thu 30 January 2025

This course covers rheology and surface tension measurements, particle and dispersion assessment, as well as drop visualisation and print quality analysis. Course leaders include KRÜSS, ImageXpert and Netzsch.

Selecting & Driving Printheads

Drive electronics & wavelforms

Wed 29 – Thu 30 January 2025

Presented by experts from Meteor Inkjet, this course covers the hardware and software required for driving printheads, including printhead selection, screening algorithms, drive electronics and waveform optimisation.

Inkjet Drying & Curing

Hardware and chemistry for fixing inkjet inks

Thu 30 – Fri 31 January 2025

This course provides key information about fixing inkjet inks, covering near-IR drying, UV curing and electron beam curing hardware, as well as the required chemistry. The course includes contributions from Adphos, Phoseon, Ibis Innovation and Catenary Solutions.

Inkjet Inks: Materials & Applications

Inks and materials for digital applications

Thu 30 – Fri 31 January 2025

The course gives an overview of the different ink platform technologies in use today, with an emphasis on practical aspects of materials selection and optimisation for the low viscosity requirement of inkjet printing. The course is led by inkjet ink expert Dr Mark Bale.
