Intec’s Low-Cost Colour Printer Packs 400gsm Punch
Intec Printing Solutions has begun shipping its latest CP3000 range, with demand for the low-cost colour printer outstripping expectations.
The first shipments of the printer began a month ago, and units have already been installed in 15 different countries.
Print speed for A4 is 45ppm in colour, or 50ppm in black-and-white. Print resolution is 1,200×1,200dpi.
The firm claims it has the lowest cost-per-copy in its class.
Intec business development director Mark Baker-Homes said demand was coming from in-house marketing departments and inplants, as well as from SME printing companies.
“Overall demand has been much higher than we initially expected, and we’ve also sold more with finishing solutions than we’d anticipated,” he said. “The booklet finisher can staple fold and punch, and it handles covers up to 250gsm and inners up to 160gsm, so it’s substantially beefier than other solutions at this level.”
The CP3000 can handle stock up to 400gsm, from A6 to SRA3 format. It is able to auto-duplex up to 300gsm, with manual duplexing of the higher weight.
The cost per print of a page with 5% colour coverage is 1.56p, and the printer itself costs from £3,999 depending upon configuration.
It also uses new LED imaging technology which Baker-Homes said produced a much smoother looking print. “It takes it to the next level,” he stated.
In the New Year the full configuration of EFI’s Fiery frontend for the CP3000 also becomes available. This includes new features aimed at short-run production of business cards.
“We’ve simplified things for users by building templates for popular business card cutters into the RIP, so it will set the cards up automatically,” Baker-Homes added.
