Konica Minolta Eyes Larger A4 Market in India
Konica Minolta is planning to expand its A4 printer sales in India using a regional distribution model to stock and sell. The small and medium business (SMB) sector will be targeted.
According to IDC, Konica Minolta has enjoyed a great success in the A3 printer segment in India. Last year, it had captured a 25% market share in the color A3 MFP segment and a 17% share in monochrome A3 MFPs. Now, the company seeks to achieve a similar success in India’s A4 printer market.
Konica Minolta will leverage its large installed base among enterprise and mid-market customers to sell new A4 printers. It will target the SMB segment and use a regional distribution model to sell the A4 printers.
Explained V. Balakrishnan, Executive General Manager for Marketing with Konica Minolta Business Solutions, “In contrast to our A3 channel, where we have office automation channel as direct partners, for A4 printers, we are looking at a regional distribution model to stock and sell. We plan to have 30 regional distributors in the top 30 cities.”
Konica Minolta has already appointed 7 regional distributors in India, including PG Micro Systems for Gurgaon, Anugraha Agencies for Bengaluru and Positive Systems for Kochi. The company plans to appoint 5 regional channel managers.
