Konica Minolta Japan Factory Reports Fire
Konica Minolta’s Tatsuno factory caught on fire on July 6, 2021. Local authorities are currently investigating the cause.
No injuries or casualties have been reported.
According to Konica Minolta, physical damages on the facility and effects on production and shipment are being assessed.
The facility is the factory of Konica Minolta Supplies Manufacturing Co., Ltd, a Konica Minolta Group company.
“We would like to give our sincerest apologies to residents in neighbouring communities, relevant authorities and all those for the trouble,” said the spokesman of Konica Minolta.
“The Konica Minolta Group sincerely addresses the incident and works on securing safety in the area. Cooperating with the local fire department, police department and relevant authorities, we will thoroughly investigate the cause and work to prevent the recurrence,” the spokesman added.
Konica Minolta revealed that the sound of the explosion was heard around 5:50 pm that day and fire from the production line was confirmed. Around 6:00 pm, firefighters started working on the fire. At 8:40, firefighters confirmed the fire was fully extinguished.
