Kyocera Launches Print Head for Versatile Label Printing

Kyocera Corporation has developed the KJ4A-EX1200-RC, a UV ink-compatible, circulation-type print head designed to deliver both high print quality and enhanced productivity. This innovative product, set to be released in May 2025, is suitable for a wide range of applications, including label printing.

Background
Digital printing, which allows on-demand printing without generating waste during plate cleaning, is gaining popularity due to its efficiency and environmental benefits. The need for high-speed, high-resolution, and durable print heads is growing as the digital print market expands across industries, including apparel, packaging, and building materials. Particularly in the label printing sector, fine text reproduction and smooth tonal gradients are essential, while achieving both high resolution and high ink density is a priority. Kyocera’s print heads meet these demands, offering superior durability and supporting continuous, stable printing for long-term production.

Key Features of the KJ4A-EX1200-RC

Stable Printing with a Proprietary Circulation Mechanism
Kyocera’s unique nozzle proximity circulation mechanism ensures uniform temperature control and reduces ink component sedimentation, enabling stable and consistent printing. This system also minimizes maintenance needs, such as head cleaning, especially during reactivation. Additionally, the print head comes standard with a water-cooling mechanism, which maintains even temperatures across the head, further stabilizing both continuous printing and print quality.

High-Resolution Printing at 1200dpi and Enhanced Productivity
The KJ4A-EX1200-RC delivers a resolution of 1200dpi, significantly improving both print clarity and productivity compared to its predecessors. It offers a higher driving frequency and faster printing speeds, meeting the demands of the label printing market for fine detail and high throughput.

High-Quality Prints with Integrated Piezoelectric Actuators
Kyocera’s proprietary integrated piezoelectric actuator features a multi-crystal ceramic design and a thin piezoelectric ceramic substrate, optimizing material and manufacturing processes. For the first time, this large integrated actuator is used in a 1200dpi head compatible with UV inks. With dimensions of 116mm x 34mm x 0.04mm, the actuator ensures consistent image quality across the entire head, achieving superior print clarity.
