Kyocera Reports H1 Revenue Recovery Amid Profit Decline
Kyocera has recently disclosed its financial results for the first half (H1) of fiscal year 2025 ending on September 30.
During the last six months, the global economy grew moderately due to lower inflation rates in various countries. However, Kyocera’s overall market did not restore to its anticipated level. For H1, Kyocera observed a slight increase of 1.3% in its sales revenue to JP¥998.6 billion (US$ 6.56 billion). However, operating profit experienced a major decline by 29.9%, resulting in JP¥37.9 billion (US$ 249.1 million). This was primarily attributed to a lower utilization ratio of production facilities caused by sluggish orders for components and an increase in labor and other costs.
Breaking down results by business segment, the document solutions unit business remains the dominant contributor to both the Solutions Business and the entire company. Compared with the first half of fiscal year 2024, Document Solutions Unit recorded a sales revenue of JP¥232.2 billion (US$1.53 billion) and total profit of JP¥21.5 billion (US$141.3 million), up by 9.1% and 11.1% each.
For the following year, Kyocera predicts a sales revenue of JP¥2,020 billion (US$13.28 billion) and operating profit of JP¥68 billion (US$447 million), both set down compared to the target released in April. For the individual forecasts of each segment, a minor adjustment is made to the Solutions Business segment, which is still expected to be the largest income source for the company.
