Kyocera UK Gains First EPEAT Accreditation In EU Region
KYOCERA Document Solutions’ FS-2100DN Advanced Network Printer has become the first KYOCERA device in the entire EU region to be Silver registered with EPEAT.
The FS-2100DN meets the rigorous standards laid down by EPEAT (Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool) and KYOCERA is now pressing ahead to have all products that have gained the registration in the US certified in the UK.
“We are delighted that the FS-2100DN has become the first KYOCERA product which can display the Silver EPEAT registration in the whole of the EU region,” said Tracey Rawling Church, Head of CSR, KYOCERA Document Solutions UK.
“When it comes to the environment-friendliness of our products, we are relentless in our efforts to increase performance and this certification is clear evidence that our investment is paying dividends.”
EPEAT is the definitive global rating system for green electronics in the United States and is used to promote the development and sale of green electronics. As well as being the standard for government purchasing in the US and several other national governments, it is also used by thousands of regional governments, universities and businesses.
In 2006, EPEAT was first adopted to evaluate PC and display equipment, and in 2013 expanded to cover imaging equipment including MFPs and printers. The 59 environmental criteria for imaging equipment include 33 mandatory such as recovery and recycling of products and consumables. Products that meet all the mandatory criteria are eligible for bronze registration. Products that meet all mandatory and 50% of optional criteria are eligible for silver, while gold registration is for those that, in addition, meet 75% of the optional criteria.
