Lexmark Expands Global Print Security Services

According to the Quocirca Print Security Landscape 2024, print-related data breaches affect about two-thirds of organizations. The report highlights a significant 38% increase in the average financial impact per incident, now exceeding £1 million (approximately $1.26 million) since 2023. Despite these risks, only 37% of surveyed IT decision-makers have conducted formal print security assessments.

Lexmark Security Services consist of three key components:

  • Security Consulting: Lexmark security experts collaborate with customers’ IT teams to evaluate and enhance their print security. By analyzing up to 2,500 device settings, firmware versions, and user permissions, they establish a customized security baseline. This includes guidance on print drivers and server infrastructure to ensure best-practice compliance.
  • Security Assessment: Experts assess the security posture of an organization’s print fleet remotely or on-site, identifying risks related to firmware vulnerabilities, device settings, and authentication permissions. A detailed scorecard outlines security gaps and recommended mitigation steps, providing a clear roadmap for improvement.
  • Configuration Management: For organizations lacking the resources to manage print security, Lexmark offers a managed service to implement security enhancements. This includes maintaining consistent device configurations, applying firmware updates, and continuously monitoring security settings across thousands of devices—all handled remotely to reduce the burden on customers.
