Markets in Western Europe Register Growth

More printers are being sold throughout western Europe, compared with the same time last year.

Market researchers and analysts, IDC, report the hardcopy market increased across western Europe 5% overall, with gains in both laser and inkjet markets.

The inkjet market increased 8.8% in the second quarter this year, as compared with the same time last year.

Business inkjets showed the most year on year growth at 12.9%.

Color was also a winner.

Both color laser and inkjet markets increased for both multi function as well as single function printers.

If there was any loser in the last year, it had to be monochrome, with declines in both inkjet and laser devices.

Multifunction devices are also a winner segment.

Shipments increased by 7.8%, with consumer inkjets, business inkjets, and color laser products all on the rise.

According to IDC, most inkjet growth was in the UK, which was also the largest market in Western Europe for inkjet products in in the second quarter, thanks mostly to sales of consumer inkjet models.
