Nine More Countries to Enjoy China’s Visa-Free Policy
China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs recently announced an expansion of the country’s unilateral visa-free entry policy to include nine additional nations. Citizens holding ordinary passports from Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Malta, Estonia, Latvia, and Japan will qualify for visa-free entry beginning November 30, 2024.
The revised policy also introduces enhanced measures to broaden eligibility. Exchange visits will now be recognized as a valid purpose for entry, and the visa-free stay duration will be extended from 15 days to 30 days. These updates apply to all countries currently benefiting from China’s unilateral visa-free entry program and will remain effective, in most cases, until December 31, 2025.
With the inclusion of the nine new nations, a total of 38 countries will be covered under China’s unilateral visa-free entry program starting November 30, 2024. Eligible citizens may stay in China visa-free for up to 30 days for purposes such as business, tourism, family visits, exchanges, and transit. Adjustments to the policy will be disclosed through official announcements, though the expiration date for Brunei’s visa-free policy remains unspecified.
Countries Eligible for China’s Visa-Free Policy (Grouped by Region):
- Asia (4 countries):Brunei, Malaysia, South Korea, Japan
- Western Europe (10 countries):France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, Ireland, Belgium, Luxembourg, Austria
