Ninestar Continues to Fight for Its Good Name in the USA
China-based Ninestar, along with its subsidiaries (collectively known as the Ninestar Group), is continuing to fight to lift the ban on selling its products in the United States.
On July 18, the Ninestar Group formally requested removal from the U.S. Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA) Entity List. The group was added to the list on June 9, 2023, by the United States Forced Labor Enforcement Task Force (FLETF), following accusations of using forced labor from Uyghur minority groups in Xinjiang and Zhuhai, Guangdong. Concurrently, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced a ban on importing goods manufactured by the Ninestar Group.
Since being listed, the Ninestar Group has vigorously defended itself, insisting that it has never used forced labor and has always demonstrated high regard for its thousands of employees.
Ninestar filed for a preliminary injunction to remove the ban, but on February 29, the U.S. Court of International Trade (CIT) ruled that “the embargo against Ninestar remains in force.” At the same time, Ninestar is pursuing a lawsuit against the US government.
The details of Ninestar’s petition to be delisted and removed from the UFLPA Entity List are not in the public record. According to Actionable Intelligence, an entity wishing to be delisted “should provide information that demonstrates that the entity no longer meets or does not meet the criteria described in the applicable clause of the UFLPA.”
While the Ninestar Group is not publicly discussing its legal strategy, it is clear that the company aims to restore its reputation and resume providing products and services to its former clients in the USA. The company’s leaders vehemently reject the notion that they would use slave or forced labor. They continue to vigorously deny the accusations and demonstrate their commitment to pursuing their case through their actions.
