RemanDay Celebrations Go Ahead Despite Health Crisis

More than 50 enterprises and organisations across the globe have gone ahead and celebrated Reman Day despite the threat to cancel or postpone the day due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Twenty staff at the office of Recycling Times Exhibition Services (better known as RT Media) in Zhuhai were all masked up but able to be together to focus on the benefits of remanufacturing. The organisation was founded in 2007 as a media and events organised for the printer cartridge remanufacturing industry. At the time there were almost 500 ribbon, ink and toner cartridge manufacturers in Zhuhai, China which was pronounced as the Printing Supplies Capital of the World. Today, the company runs the largest office printer and supplies expo in the world every year in Zhuhai.

The Remanufacturing Industries Council sets aside one day each year to promote the benefits of remanufacturing. This year Reman Day was April 9, 2020. Almost 50 enterprises and organisations around the world registered.

Industries include the remanufacturing of office furniture, turbines and engines, motor vehicles, farm equipment, aircraft and electrical equipment remanufacturers.

Each staff member at RT Media researched one of the companies that had registered with the Remanufacturing Industries Council. Each prepared a PowerPoint presentation and spoke for 5 minutes each on April 9 about the enterprise and industry they had chosen.

“We met in our TV Studio at 11 am for a two-hour session,” Communication Manager Amber Guan said. “The range of industries was quite eye-opening, given we focus on just one industry all year round.”

Following the presentations, A Reman Day cake was cut, photos were taken and the team enjoyed a pizza lunch with cake.

Worldwide, remanufacturing is a US$160 billion a year industry and employs more than 450,000 people.  It’s also growing as an industry, adding new sectors and attracting talented people, engineers, scientists and technicians, to high-paying, rewarding jobs.

Reman Day is a great opportunity to show support for the entire remanufacturing community and helps to increase awareness of the benefits of remanufacturing.
