Ricoh Launches RICOH Ri 4000 Garment Printer

Ricoh has announced the launch of its new garment printer, the RICOH Ri 4000, designed for direct printing on garment fabrics such as T-shirts. The printer will be available in Japan starting in late April 2025.

Equipped with Ricoh’s proprietary enhancer system, the RICOH Ri 4000 allows direct-to-garment (DTG) printing on a wide variety of fabrics, including polyester, cotton, and blends, without the need for conventional manual pre-treatment processes such as hand-spraying. In addition to DTG capabilities, the printer also supports direct-to-film (DTF) printing, enabling users to create transfer films compatible with a broad range of fabric types.

Key features of the new printer include:

Proprietary Enhancer System
The printer uses Ricoh’s inkjet technology to apply an enhancer directly to fabrics such as polyester, cotton, and mixed materials, eliminating the need for manual pre-treatment. This enables high-quality, stable printing results. By automating the pre-treatment process, the printer reduces both the workload and potential for errors while lowering the technical learning curve for operators.

Support for DTG and DTF Printing
Designed to meet diverse application needs—including apparel and merchandise production—the printer supports both DTG and DTF methods, offering users flexibility and supporting business growth opportunities.

Enhanced Productivity and Usability
The printer features user-friendly functions aimed at improving operational efficiency. These include automatic head cleaning for simplified maintenance, automatic table height adjustment for ease of use, and scheduled self-cleaning functions to help minimize downtime.

In Japan, the RICOH Ri 4000 will be distributed exclusively by Riso. With a strong foundation in screen printing and expertise in the domestic garment printing industry, Riso will serve as Ricoh’s sole distributor in the country. The two companies have established a new sales partnership to further expand the presence of Ricoh’s textile printing solutions in the Japanese garment printing market. Through this collaboration, Ricoh and Riso will offer integrated support covering sales, service, and customer assistance for the new product.
