Ricoh to Cut over 100 jobs in Telford
Shropshire Star reported Ricoh will shed 120 jobs in Telford to reorganize some of its manufacturing lines. After the layoff, the remaining staff will be about 720.
The OEM started the reorganization last year and now will bring in some new lines and a small number of new skilled workers, said its Director Rod Baggott.
“The aims of this review are to simplify and standardize business processes, eliminate operational duplication within the European manufacturing facilities, optimize the logistics within the Ricoh supply chain, and to capitalize upon the strengths of the European manufacturing facilities. ” said Mr Baggott, “Some of the departing workers had opted to take redundancy because of the change to night shifts on some lines.”
The review has been conducted alongside the company’s operations in France and Holland, said the statement.
Moreover, Mr Baggott added, “Ricoh values the skills and talent of its employees, to collectively achieve its goals and support its customers. In this respect, management have actively engaged in discussions with employees and employee representatives in order to find the best solutions”.
