Ricoh Unveils First A3 MFPs with Straight Path Scanner
Ricoh USA has introduced a fresh series of intelligent color A3 multifunction printers (MFPs), featuring a cutting-edge automatic single-pass document feeder (SPDF) that supports a wide range of distinctive media formats—offering what is arguably the most versatile feeding capability available in office MFPs today.
Efficient as they are as document management tools, traditional SPDFs media handling capacities are limited. Because of their curved transport path, uncommon original formats—such as plastic ID cards—must typically be scanned using the MFP’s exposure glass, leading to a labor-intensive and inefficient workflow. This often causes operational delays due to manual sorting, increased chances of paper jams, and misaligned scans.
The RICOH IM C3510SD, RICOH IM C4510SD, and RICOH IM C6010SD—collectively known as the RICOH SD Series—effectively overcome these issues by integrating a groundbreaking production-level straight-path SPDF. Drawing on paper feeding technologies developed by PFU, the new SPDF dramatically minimizes jamming while enabling smooth batch scanning of varied original types. Users can load originals of different sizes, types, and orientations directly into the SPDF and rely on the MFP to handle the rest. The system automatically identifies anomalies and corrects skew or orientation, providing properly sized images instantly displayed on the third-generation 10.1-inch Smart Operation Panel.
A Versatile Imaging Solution
The RICOH SD Series delivers comprehensive print, copy, and fax functions typical of next-generation MFPs, while incorporating adaptive technologies that scale with evolving business needs. With a maximum resolution of 1200 x 1200 dpi and a wide array of finishing and tray configurations, companies can efficiently produce high-quality output. Integrated smart tools like RICOH Smart Integration and RICOH Streamline NX allow users to tailor device features, enhance document control, and streamline digital processes. Meanwhile, RICOH CloudStream offers enhanced oversight of print environments directly from the cloud.
Strengthened Security Capabilities
The shift toward hybrid working styles has transformed collaboration patterns and requires higher security in handling information across different locations. To address these new demands, the RICOH SD Series includes Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 2.0 encryption, offering enhanced protection for stored credentials and encryption keys. It also increases the default number of admin accounts, reducing the reliance on shared credentials. With RICOH Always Current Technology, users receive timely security patches and updates—ensuring ongoing protection and access to new functionalities without waiting for on-site service or investing in replacement equipment.
Commitment to Sustainability
Having been a long-term advocate for sustainability, Ricoh has designed the RICOH SD Series to reflect its environmental values. The devices are made using 47% post-consumer recycled plastic and incorporate 100% recycled PET toner bottles. The scanning technology encourages digitization and reduces paper usage. The additional energy-efficient Sleep Mode and newly formulated toner with lower fusing temperatures also contribute to reduced energy consumption.
