RISO released its financial results for the past six months ending on September 30, recording an overall growth in both sales and revenue.
For the last six months, the company achieved net sales of JP¥38.2 billion (US$ 246.4 million), up by 9.6% if compared to the same period in 2023. The growth is even greater for operating income, rising by 52.3% to JP¥2.8 billion (US$18.1 million). This was attributed to the depreciation of yen as well as the steady sales performance in the printing equipment-related business.
During the reporting period, RISO began the operations of its inkjet head business, which was transferred to the company from Toshiba and effective from July. Consequently, the company combined this inkjet head business with its original printing equipment business into one segment, the Printing Equipment-Related Business. The segment recorded net sales of JP¥37.3 billion (US$240.6 million)and segment profit of JP¥2.7 billion (US$17.4 million), up by 9.8% and 73.1% year-on-year respectively.
During the same period last year, RISO was experiencing a weaker demands in printing equipment business in Japanese market due to the price change in printing consumables. However, the situation improved this year, partially because of the price revisions implemented in June. Net sales in Japan amounted to JP¥17.7 billion (US$ 114.2 million), up by 10%. Outside local market, the company saw stronger sales performance in other countries and regions primarily as a result of the positive effect of yen depreciation in exchange rates, resulting in overseas net sales of JP¥19.6 billion (US$126.4 million), up by 9.6%. Overall, the results in printing equipment-related business is in line with RISO’s anticipation.
Looking forward, RISO has adjusted most targets for this fiscal year upwards in accordance with the recent trends. Forecast for net sales is raised to JP¥80.5 billion (US$519..2 million) and operating income to JP¥6.5 billion (US$41.9 million).
