Roland DG Expands UV Flatbed Printer Product Range

Roland DG Corporation has expanded its UV flatbed printer offerings with the introduction of two new models: the VersaSTUDIO BF-16 and the VersaOBJECT MO-180. These printers cater to different user needs while maintaining the company’s hallmark features of high-quality output, efficiency, and versatility in direct printing on a wide range of materials.

VersaSTUDIO BF-16

The VersaSTUDIO BF-16, designed for compact and cost-effective customization, utilizes UV-LED technology to deliver vibrant prints on substrates such as phone cases, art canvases, and cosmetic items. Despite its small size, it supports an A3 print area and materials up to 90 mm in height. The printer employs the same high-definition printheads and UV inks as Roland DG’s wide-format models, allowing users to achieve vivid full-color printing with CMYK and White inks, as well as special effects like gloss finishes and embossed textures. With its ability to perform simultaneous two-layer and three-layer printing, the BF-16 achieves a maximum productivity of 2.08 m² per hour, handling up to 180 phone cases per hour. The printer’s affordability extends beyond its price, with an efficient ink system that minimizes consumption while maintaining high image quality. Its user-friendly approach is further supported by VersaWorks 7 RIP software, which simplifies operations and enhances efficiency.

VersaOBJECT MO-180

Tthe VersaOBJECT MO-180 brings enhanced productivity and broader application possibilities within a compact footprint. Part of the MO series, which aims to set a new standard for UV flatbed printing, this model balances high-definition print quality with improved output speeds. Featuring two newly developed large printheads in a staggered layout, combined with a powerful UV-LED lamp and optimized dot control, the MO-180 achieves a standard-mode productivity of 1.90 m² per hour. Its simultaneous white printing capability is significantly faster than previous models, and its ink curing efficiency ensures sharp reproduction of fine text and subtle gradients.

The MO-180’s EUV5 ink set expands the color gamut by approximately 20% with the addition of Orange and Red process colors, delivering superior accuracy and vibrancy. Gloss ink enhances prints with premium gloss or matte finishes and embossed textures. The printer supports a diverse range of materials, including plastic, paper, leather, wood, glass, and metal, with primer ink facilitating adhesion on challenging surfaces. Its print area measures 458 mm x 305 mm, accommodating objects up to 204 mm thick. The printer also offers advanced capabilities for three-dimensional objects, with support for tall fixtures and an optional rotary axis unit that enables cylindrical printing on items such as bottles.

With a 7-inch full-color touch panel, the MO-180 provides an intuitive user experience, allowing for quick access to print settings and maintenance operations. An automatic cleaning function helps maintain consistent print quality, while VersaWorks 7 RIP software ensures precision processing of various file formats and seamless layer generation. Additionally, the printer supports macOS alongside Windows and integrates with cloud-based services through Roland DG Connect, offering enhanced operational insights, remote support, and business efficiency tools. Features like PrintAutoMate further streamline production for e-commerce businesses handling high-volume, varied printing tasks.
