Staples Aims to Collect 5 Million Ink Cartridges by Earth Day 2014
Staples, a leading online retailer for office supplies based in Canada, displayed its progress over a range of recycling and energy efficiency programs, announcing its sustainability achievements for the second quarter of 2013 (2Q2013).
As was reported by Staples, its sustainability programs increased year over year and the company has collected 790,000 ink and toner cartridges in 2Q2013, a growth of 200,000 units compared with the same quarter of 2012. In order to collect 5 million ink cartridges by Earth Day 2014, Staple said it is encouraging Canadians to drop their used ink and toner cartridges at any site of Staple Canada. Also, the company is offering free cartridge collect service for Canadian schools which have signed up for a free cartridge bin.
Further, Staples expressed its growing commitment to sustainability and believes it can help its customers to be green by collecting toner, e-waste and gently used delivery boxes. The company said it will keep focusing on “its long-term commitment to growing the business in a sustainable manner.”
Along with the bullfrogpowered® Printers Program, Staples recently promised any inkjet printer purchased at its stores from September 25 until October 25 “will be bullfrogpowered with 100% clean, pollution-free electricity for one full year.”
