Static Control Releases Statement for GEO
Static Control (SCC) announced the development of a unique, fully functional gear which is designed to eliminate any risk of infringing Canon’s gear patents. The company said it filed for patents in 2007 and SCC has gained two issued U.S. patents for non-twisted gears in October 2010 and December 2011.
Further, SCC claims its ZeroTwistTM Gears were the first-to-market solution for remanufacturers and are still the only solution protected by multiple U.S. patents. The company also stated its gears will not be impacted by the General Exclusion Order (GEO) and it respects the intellectual property of the OEMs.
On June 28, the U.S. International Trade Commission (USITC) issued the GEO protecting Canon’s patents. The GEO prohibits the unlicensed importation into the United States of certain HP and Canon toner cartridges and components which infringe Canon’s twisted drum gear coupling patents.
