Toshiba to Raise MFP Prices
Toshiba recently announced that it will increase the prices of its multifunctional products and related services as part of its strategy to adapt to the ever-changing global markets. This decision comes in response to a variety of external pressures impacting the industry.
Toshiba has observed that global suppliers of printers and copiers have faced increasing challenges in recent years. Among these challenges are material shortages, particularly in the supply of semiconductors, alongside the dramatic rise in crude oil prices, logistics costs, and general product prices. The mounting cost of materials and transportation has pushed multifunctional device vendors to adopt various strategies to cope with these growing difficulties, including optimizing workforce structures, transforming corporate operations, and making significant budget adjustments to accommodate the new realities.
In response to these obstacles, Toshiba initially took several steps in an effort to stabilize its product prices. These efforts included reducing costs in production and logistics, as well as minimizing various operational expenses. Despite these proactive measures, the company ultimately concluded that maintaining the current pricing structure was no longer viable on its own. After careful evaluation and extensive consideration of the market landscape, Toshiba has determined that a price increase is necessary to remain competitive and continue delivering quality products.
The planned price adjustments will go into effect starting on October 1, 2024. The price increases will affect all models of Toshiba’s multifunctional printers, as well as optional accessories and certain services.
