Zhono Provides Guides for New Canon Toner Cartridge Prompt
Zhono provides official solution guides to the prompt “Toner Low (Replacement Not Yet Needed)” after installing its new toner cartridge on Canon copiers, including NPG-67 and NPG-83 series.
Case Studies
Two of Zhono’s customers reported that a prompt frequently displays on the Canon copiers in the following two cases as shown in Figure 1.
Case #1: The prompt “Toner Low (Replacement Not Yet Needed)” displays when a new toner cartridge is inserted into the Canon copier, but the remaining toner in the cartridge is registering at 100%.
Case #2: The prompt “Toner Low (Replacement Not Yet Needed)” displays when a new toner cartridge is inserted into the Canon copier and used for three to four days, but the remaining toner in the cartridge is registering at 100%.
Why did the prompts display? The reason is below.
Reason
The main reason is that the copier automatically predicts the remaining usable time of toner based on its usage status. For example, if the copier experiences a large printing volume or high printing coverage rate with the previous cartridge, and the set of toner cartridges runs out in less than seven days, the copier will remember this high-volume printing state and estimate how long it will take to deplete a set of toner cartridges in a replaced new cartridge.
Click the [Supplies Check] icon on the screen so you can see the toner usage status:
When the number of [Remaining Days] is more than seven, then the prompt will not display. Otherwise, it will appear as shown in Figure 2.
Solution
Zhono’s engineers suggest the following solution:
Click the [Administrator] icon and log in to initialize the copier. Let’s take the Canon ADV DX C3830 copier for demonstration, as shown in the video below.
This method is to reset the copier’s [Remaining Days] to the default value of ‘More Than One Year’ by initializing data. Then the prompt “Toner Low (Replacement Not Yet Needed)” will no longer display after replacing with a new toner cartridge.
Note:
When the printing volume or printing coverage rate of the copier decreases, the prompt “Toner Low (Replacement Not Yet Needed)” will not appear.
This method doesn’t require any additional settings on the copier, as it will automatically recalculate the printing volume and the remaining days to deplete a set of toner cartridges.
If the copier estimates that it will take more than seven days to deplete a set of toner cartridges, the prompt will no longer appear, as shown in Figure 3.
