Toner and Ink Star Wars – Berto’s battle for the universe
Toner and Ink Star Wars – Berto’s battle for the universe
There has been a battle for supremacy between toner and inkjet technologies for more than three decades. Particularly in the office sector. What is the difference between toner and ink? Inkjet was readily accepted in the home because it was color and the printer itself was cheaper. Offices preferred laser because it was faster and the cost per page was cheaper. The cost to print a single page using coloured ink could cost you more than US$5.
Now laser printers offer color, and inkjet companies like Epson are providing bulk ink tank systems to lower the cost per page while increasing the speed as well. Despite having a lower market share compared with laser, inkjet is making strides to capture the lucrative office market.
Most people have no idea if their printer is inkjet or toner. A comparison is provided here on three crucial aspects of both – the price, the quality and the capacity.
